The University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield is one of Britain's most highly regarded centres for higher education and research. The last Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Research Assessment Exercise in 2001 rated component departments of the Polymer Centre as an average of 5 (range 4 to 5*), indicating work of international importance in nearly every area. In the 2004/5 HESA income ratings, Sheffield ranked 8th on total research grant and contract income, 8th for UK Research Council income, and 6th for postgraduate research student numbers.

Research at Sheffield

The University is part of a wider White Rose Consortium that extends research links to Leeds and York, bonds which are further strengthened within the Polymer Centre by our membership of the Polymer IRC.

The University of Sheffield is a member of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), which extends research links to the USA and China. Within this global framework, Sheffield is the lead player in the Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology exemplar group.

More about the Worldwide Universities Network

The University of Sheffield is a strong partner on both national and international stages, and the Polymer Centre is an important interdisciplinary component of this success.
