Polymers at the University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield has a global reputation for its world-leading research conducted across all disciplines.

The Polymer Centre represents some of the world's leading polymer scientists and engineers. With more than 180 academics and researchers on-site, the centre has an international reputation for excellence in synthesis, characterization, properties, processing, applications and speciality polymers.

The Centre's objective is to generate collaborations based on its research and training expertise for the mutual benefit of our customers in industry and education.

The Polymer Centre offers a range of courses, from one day training and professional development through to research degrees. This includes courses of one to ten days duration, and more specific consultancy, in a number of areas of polymer science and engineering.

We understand the importance for both the student and the commercial scientist, to inform interest and broaden horizons. We deliver courses in a wide area of topics spanning polymer engineering, physics, chemistry, biomaterials and nanotechnology.
